About the Cars & the Site
classically-modern.com is a small, personal site kept by a lifelong classic-car enthusiast. It has no corporate agenda — just decades of oily hands, garage evenings and honest notes about keeping old cars alive and usable.
The idea behind the site
Originally this site was meant to be a source of information for anyone running a classic car as a genuine alternative to a modern daily driver. Over the years it drifted into something broader: owning, modifying, driving, building and simply having fun with interesting, slightly off-beat machinery rather than following the crowd.
The cars
All of the cars featured here have at some point been year-round daily transport:
- 1970 Porsche 911T — a US import with a single owner, bought as a daily driver and trackday car, and now mid-way through a long-awaited rebuild.
- 1961 VW Beetle roadster — a Wizard of Rods conversion built from a wreck on a near-zero budget at 17, the closest the owner could get to a 356 Speedster.
- 1980 Fiat Spider — one of the 1,000 limited-edition Pininfarina 50th Anniversary Spiders, number 47.
- Chrysler Crossfire — the modern one, endlessly modified, covered in its own dedicated area, Crossfire Innovations.
Past residents include a Lada Niva, a Silver Striker and a Chrysler PT Cruiser — all loved, all gone but not forgotten.
